About BRICS Countries Map

BRICS originated as BRIC, bringing together Brazil, Russia, India, and China. The grouping was formalized in 2006, following the countries’ foreign ministers’ meeting at the United Nations General Assembly. Its first leaders’ summit took place in Yekaterinburg, Russia, in 2009. South Africa joined in 2010, creating BRICS.

The BRICS Countries Map 2025 illustrates the expanded global footprint of the BRICS grouping, distinguishing full members from partner countries. In 2025, BRICS consists of 11 member countries: Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Indonesia. Indonesia officially became a full member on January 6, 2025, marking the first membership expansion under Brazil’s presidency.

The map also highlights 10 BRICS partner countries: Belarus, Bolivia, Cuba, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Nigeria, Thailand, Uganda, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam. Vietnam became the tenth partner country in June 2025.

Brazil held the BRICS presidency in 2025, focusing on Global South cooperation, sustainable development, climate action, health, trade, finance, and artificial intelligence governance.
